AILSA

 

Ailsa Cottage a quaint thatched cottage situated at the foot of Mount Thomas and in close proximity to pristine trout dams.  Sleeps 6, (2 doubles and 2 singles) in 3 rooms, has all amentities and access to the swimming pool.

Activities. Hiking, fishing, birding, mountian biking or just relaxing in the clean mountian air.

REIGATE GUEST COTTAGE

Set in the foothills of the Amatola's in a beautiful setting. This self catering cottage is newly renevated  and furnished. Ideal for trout fishing getaways. Sleeps 6.

Activities. Trout fishing, Bird watching, mountian biking, scenic walks with fantastic views.

BERACAH COTTAGE

Beracah Cottage is an elegant self-catering Garden Cottage, situated on a private farm in the beautiful Thomas River area. It is ideal for a couple or single person looking for time out to recharge and be refreshed. Beracah consists of a Queen size bed, bathroom, fully equipped kitchenette, lounge (with sleeper couch)  and private deck.

Beracah has its very own fireplace for those chilly winter nights and Braai facilities are also available.

Spend your time enjoying the tranquillity of your surroundings through Mountain biking, Walking,  or Running. The Thomas River Tavern is 15 minutes away, to pop into for an afternoon tea or wholesome meal.

DOON GARDEN COTTAGE

Doon Garden Flat - Family unit with kitchenette and on suite bathroom. Ideal for couple with small children.

Doon Rondavel - Quaint rondavel in the tranquility of the Doon garden. Sleeps two.

Close to Historical Village with resturant.

CULLEAN GUEST FARM

Up market, luxuriously renovated classic homestead in beautifull gardens. Sleeps 7 in 4 bedrooms.

The farm is fully furnished and equiped for self-catering. Room service is available by prior request.

Activities: Hiking, bass & trout fishing, mountian biking, relaxing.

THOMAS RIVER HISTORICAL VILLAGE 

The Old Thomas River Station and Village buildings have been restored to their former glory fifty years after the last train passed through. 

 

The station is the first part of the restoration of the old village of Thomas  River which has a community library in the old school and a museum and social club in the old shop where the Ramble Restuarant serves teas and light meals during the week and is fully operative over week-ends.
A variety of accommodation is available within the  the village. The Station Master's and Station Foreman's cottages offer self-catering with a fully catered option, if required, from the Ramble Restuarant. There are 7 bedrooms giving a total capacity of 26 people. The   Dormitory  Hiking Hut, housed in the old Post office, offers rustic accommodation  consisting of 16 beds in single and triple story bunks. Caravan and tenting is available with electrified stands and and ablution block.
Also within the village you can find the Eastern Cape Rock Art Centre  run by Victor Biggs, who conducts lectures and guided tours to the rock art sites as well as being extremely knowledgeable on birding, fauna and  flora.  Activities: Resturant & Pub with huge deck overlooking the swimming pool and games area. The ideal place to watch one of our unforgetable sunsets!  Hiking, fishing, mountian biking & rock art.

 Rates:

Station Master’s & Foreman’s Houses: R200.00 per person, per night / children 4-12 years are R100.00 each.

– Children 3 years and younger are free.

Post Office / Hiking Hut: R 100.00 per person, per night.

Children 3 years and younger are free.

Camping: R50.00 per person per night with a maximum of 6 people per site. Children 3 years and younger are free.

  OLIVE GROVE

Self catering farm cottage 4km from Cathcart.

Exclusive access to the western shore of the Sam Meyer Dam.

Sleeps 6

       Activities: Bass, carp & yellowfish fishing, bird watching, hiking, mountian biking.
         Rates:  R200 per bed used per night. half price for kids under 14 years.
